TONY SCLAMA

My Story

An avid reader and physician myself, I have long been a fan of such physician authors of medical/scientific suspense-thrillers such as Michael Crichton, Robin Cook, Tess Gerritsen, Patricia Cornwell, and the late Michael Palmer.

After attending a conference on medical fiction writing for physicians, featuring Gerritsen and Palmer, I was inspired by their respective writing journeys, and intrigued by the idea of writing a medical suspense thriller myself.

With twenty-two years of clinical practice and an additional eleven years on a hospital executive team as chief medical officer for background, I decided on gene therapy, genetic engineering, and a conspiracy to defraud the FDA as the subject and plot for my debut medical thriller, WRONGFUL ACTS, published in July, 2021.

As a self-published author, the numerous interactions with the reading community at libraries, bookstore author signing events, and book club meetings, to name just a few of the marketing activities required to promote the book, have been thoroughly enjoyable, as have been the many interactions with friends and colleagues on social media.

My next book is currently in production. The genre of medical suspense-thriller remains the same, but the physical setting is a hospital.
